Celebrity cook Steve Martorano is opening his new pizza shop Martorano’s Sicilian Slice, at Rivers Casino, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 31 May.

The new restaurant will be located in the casino’s marketplace, a short distance away from Martorano’s Prime, a soon-to-open Italian-American Steakhouse.

Martorano’s Sicilian Slice will feature Sicilian-style fresh pizza by the slice.

The restaurant claims to use San Marzano tomato sauce and homemade mozzarella cheese.

The pizzas will be topped with ingredients such as Calabria oregano and basil, drizzles of Frantoia extra-virgin olive oil, Pecorino Romano cheese and Molinari pepperoni.

The pies and the fresh ingredients used in Martorano’s Sicilian Slice are expected to complement Martorano’s Prime.

Martorano said: “I can’t wait for Philadelphia to enjoy authentic Martorano recipes from our family-style kitchens. It starts with our thick-crust Sicilian slices, followed soon by the best meatballs you’ve ever tasted at Martorano’s Prime.”

In addition to the pizza shop, Steve Martorano and his wife, Marsha Daley-Martorano, are set to open Lilly Cakes, a dessert boutique at the Rivers Casino Marketplace.

The boutique claims to serve "all-american desserts for all occasions" and will feature classic desserts such as fluffy, sweet vanilla cake, red velvet cake, brown-butter Heath bar cake and banana cream pie.

Martorano’s Prime will be a fine dining restaurant featuring an Italian-American menu with steakhouse staples in Martorano’s signature style.

This will be the second location for Prime, the first being the Rivers Casino Pittsburgh in 2021.
