McDonald's plans to establish its first Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

The new centre will concentrate on solutions in business, technology, analytics and artificial intelligence for customers around the world.

The move marks a significant investment in the city’s status as a hub for global business and innovation.

The fast-food giant has leased two floors at RMZ Nexity Tower 20, spanning 200,000ft², with operations to commence by mid-2025.

At a rental rate of Rs90 ($1.03) per ft², this facility will become McDonald's largest GCC outside the US and is set to house 2,000 employees.

GCCs are strategic units established by multinational corporations to tap into local talent and technological capabilities while benefiting from cost efficiencies.

These centres serve as integral parts of the parent company, managing essential functions.

In line with this expansion, McDonald's has registered the McDonald’s Capability Centre India with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

Hyderabad is emerging as a preferred destination for GCCs due to its skilled workforce infrastructure, as reported by Foodtechnews.in.

In Q2 2024, Hyderabad saw office transactions of two million ft², accounting for 11% of the total 18.5 million ft² transacted across eight major Indian cities.

The GCC's share was more than 50% of the office space in Hyderabad during this period and contributed to the local economy.

In January 2025, McDonald’s USA announced the appointment of Alyssa Buetikofer, currently chief marketing officer of McDonald’s Canada, to the role of senior vice-president, chief marketing officer and customer experience officer of McDonald’s USA.

It also rolled out a Pokémon-themed Happy Meal promotion across the US, featuring a Pokémon trading card game booster pack with four of 15 collectable cards, alongside a themed poster and sticker sheet with each Happy Meal.
