US restaurant chain MOD Pizza has opened its first store on a military base in Norfolk, Virginia.

The Naval Station Norfolk store will be operated by ONE Enterprise Group under the leadership of Cassandra and Tony Bozeman.

ONE Enterprise Group’s Tony Bozeman said: “This is an exciting time for ONE Enterprise Group.

“As a retired army officer, it gives me great pleasure to employ motivated squad members as we serve those who serve along with their families. MOD Pizza is just what the Navy ordered and we are excited to make it happen!”

MOD’s new store will serve 82,000 active-duty military personnel, 112,000 family members, and the Norfolk public with its customisable pizzas and salads.

The move is part of MOD Pizza's initiative to explore non-traditional settings for its expansion.

MOD chief development officer Steve Blum said: “We at MOD are extraordinarily pleased to see our first opening on a military base with our franchisees, Cassandra and Tony Bozeman.

“We believe that our unique combination of nutritious, quality ingredients combined with our speed of execution is perfectly suited for non-traditional environments such as military bases, airports and universities and love partnering with the military to feed our sailors.

“As the leader in the fast-casual pizza segment, we look forward to opening many more non-traditional locations across the US.”

In November 2023, MOD Pizza relaunched its Chocolate Peppermint No Name Cake for the holiday season.

The limited-edition holiday was rolled out across 540 venues in the US and Canadian markets.

The new addition is a chocolate cake with a creamy peppermint filling, coated in dark chocolate and topped with peppermint candy-cane sprinkles.
