Canada-based casual restaurant chain Moxies has announced the re-opening of its refurbished location at 1620 Kenaston Boulevard, Winnipeg.

Covering 7,500ft², the venue is located in Kenaston Common and features greenery, marble walls, gold accents and modern art.

The new location has a light, bright interior seating space for 220 guests, and accommodates a further 100 on its outdoor patio.

Moxies president and COO Joanne Forrester stated: “The re-opening of our Kenaston location marks an energising new chapter for Moxies and our incredible loyal guests in Winnipeg.

“As a big part of the local community, we are very excited to introduce a newly refreshed menu, beautifully bright renovated space, and provide an unforgettable dining experience.”

The upscale casual restaurant menu offerings include the tuna sushi stack, with sushi-grade tuna, seasoned rice, avocado, mango, soy ginger glaze, spicy mayo and seasoned prawn crackers.

Moxies menu includes a Thai curry laksa comprising house-made creamy coconut broth, mushrooms, rice noodles and fresh vegetables, and chipotle mango chicken with house-made chipotle seasoning, ancient grains, seasonal vegetables, avocado and salsa.

The restaurant also offers a wide selection of margaritas and handcrafted cocktails, and a curated wine list featuring some of Canada's finest selections.

Moxies Winnipeg regional manager Anton Pradinuk stated: “We are so excited to share our modernised look with new and returning guests.

“With elevated hospitality and a renovated room filled with fresh energy, there is no better place to celebrate with friends and family, stop by for a drink after work, or just come in to say hi to a familiar face. At Moxies, we truly believe that once you walk through that front door, you will be glad you did.”

In October 2023, Moxies reopened its restaurant in Langley, British Columbia, following refurbishment.

Adoption of robotics in foodservice is at a nascent stage

The role of robotics is less sure-footed in the foodservice sector. Automating kitchens and meal service is less easily done with robots than automating warehouses and production lines, although this hasn’t deterred start-ups’ efforts to automate burger flipping and meal delivery with robots and drones. Robots improve profitability in the long term but have high up-front costs, so investing in robotics is not without risks.
