The Intercontinental Muscat, an IHG [Intercontinental Hotels Group] hotel in Oman, has re-opened its Musandam restaurant following a comprehensive rebranding and renovation.
Inspired by the Musandam Governorate [a mountainous Omani peninsula projecting into the Strait of Hormuz], blue oceans and golden sands, the restaurant offers guests a unique dining experience and captures the essence of the region's beauty.
French designer Christian Lepretre led the design of the transformed restaurant in a project lasting eight months. Its construction was completed in six months.
An Omani company was given the contract for the project.
Musandam features sustainability initiatives such as Energy Star standards for kitchen equipment and the use of volatile organic compound-free paint, aligning with IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Journey to Tomorrow initiative.
The restaurant features modern dimmer controls and LED lighting, both of which support energy conservation.
Daniel Arbenz, area general manager of InterContinental Muscat, IHG OMRAN hotels, said: “This renovation marks a significant milestone in our ongoing endeavour to revitalise the InterContinental Muscat.
“We are excited to unveil Musandam as the hotel's signature restaurant, where we will proudly showcase a fusion of local and international culinary delights.”
The buffet's stone cladding features hand-crafted stones from the Bahla mountain, showcasing local artisanship.
Guests at Musandam can explore a world of flavours, ranging from Omani delicacies to international cuisine.
The daily dinner buffet will be available between 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm. During Ramadan, guests can enjoy a special Iftar [the meal at the breaking of the fast] buffet.
