Odd Burger has signed a franchise agreement with Western University in London, Ontario, Canada, to establish its first on-campus location at a post-secondary educational institution.

The new location opens in late January 2024 in the University Community Centre Food Hub, Western University's busiest food court.

8,000 students eat there daily during the academic year.

The new addition to the university’s food offerings will be its first entirely plant-based eatery, aligning with Western University's sustainability goals.

Odd Burger's menu at Western University will feature plant-based options including burgers, loaded fries, wraps, salads, dairy-free milkshakes and breakfast sandwiches.

Odd Burger CEO and co-founder James McInnes stated: “As a Western alumnus, this is a particularly proud moment for me. It's such an amazing opportunity to now partner with Western University and give so many future leaders the chance to experience delicious fast food that's also better for the planet and animals.”

Western University hospitality services director Colin Porter added: “We see this partnership as an important step in making Western University’s food offerings more sustainable, while also proving that plant-based food can be enjoyed by everyone.”

Established in 2014, Odd Burger operates as a franchised vegan fast-food restaurant chain and a food technology company.

It produces a range of plant-based protein and dairy substitutes which are supplied to Odd Burger restaurant locations through its foodservice line and are also available at grocery retailers via its consumer packaged goods line.

In May 2023, Odd Burger signed a non-binding letter of intent with Earthlings Canada to open 145 restaurants in India and five in Singapore.
