The tool is said to translate into higher sales, better menu management and consequently more profitability for restaurants.

Software giant Oracle has launched a new restaurant management platform, Oracle Restaurants.

The new platform is claimed to help independent restaurant operators improve their online ordering capabilities and reduce costs tied to payment processing.

This is said to translate into higher sales, better menu management and consequently more profitability for restaurants.

In a press release, the vendor stated that the solution also enables easy deployment. The service will be available in bundles of $99 a month for quick service or table service restaurants for a limited period.

With table service and quick service bundles, restaurants can gain access to integrated online ordering, which helps boost online orders while optimising search results to expedite customer acquisition.

They can also access Oracle Restaurants POS, which facilitates various aspects of menu management such as prices, images, promotions, allergen notifications and nutrition data for every channel from one location.

Besides, restaurants can gain access to Oracle payment cloud service, supporting end-to-end reconciliation reporting and providing customers with the latest digital payment methods without surprise charges.

Other benefits include the Workstation 8, featuring a 14in touchscreen display and essential peripherals to offer a comprehensive workstation toolset ranging from a countertop payment terminal, cash drawer, receipt and kitchen printer.

The table service bundle also comes with a mobile order and pay solution, with the low-profile workstation configuration enabling operators with limited counter or floor space to eliminate barriers between employees and customers.

The quick service bundle comes with a vertical-profile workstation configuration with a vertical stand and weighted base, which hides all the cables to improve the countertop aesthetic. It can also be expanded to add options, including scales or scanners.

Oracle food and beverage executive vice-president and general manager Simon de Montfort Walker said: “Independent restaurants operate on razor-thin margins and are challenged at every turn to remain competitive in an increasingly digital landscape.

“While other POS vendors have recently taken advantage of restaurants with forced migrations and hidden fees, we are providing operators a swift, affordable path to the latest restaurant technology that provides simple, transparent pricing and payment terms to help them succeed, grow and improve profitability.”

Customer engagement drives metaverse investment in the foodservice sector

COVID-19 and supply chain disruptions following the Ukraine war have accelerated automation and digitalization in the foodservice sector. Home delivery services and consumer engagement through digital channels have become essential for businesses trying to stay afloat. Foodservice companies must also cope with ESG issues, the fast-changing world of work, and the global economy heading for recession and possible stagflation. The metaverse, enabled by both AR and VR, is an important tool that can help address many of the foodservice industry's key challenges.
