UK-based bakery and restaurant chain Patisserie Valerie is set to reopen two restaurants by October 2023.

The move forms part of the chain’s plan to reopen more cafes over the next few months in an effort to reinvest in the industry.

Patisserie Valerie also plans to open its new branch in Cambridge next week following a lengthy refurbishment.

In mid-October 2023, the café will reopen a restaurant outside Bristol at Cribbs Causeway retail park.

The bakery chain is currently recruiting for roles at its two planned cafes.

The café firm is also seeking opportunities to open new sites.

The bakery chain had previously operated almost 200 stores in the UK, which employed around 3,000 staff.

In 2019, the patisserie chain went into administration as a result of accountancy fraud and immediately closed 71 of its 193 stores.

Since then, Patisserie Valerie reduced its number of stores to just 29 and its restaurants remained only in cities and some large towns.

Patisserie Valerie, however, has concessions inside 400 Sainsbury's stores.

About five of Patisserie Valerie’s remaining restaurants are located in London while several others are in the Southeast, including in Winchester, Basingstoke and High Wycombe.

Several other retailers and eateries in the UK are expanding their businesses, including Costco, which plans to open 14 new warehouses in the next two years.

The White Company also plans to open five new branches by November 2023.
