Pizza Hut has announced the launch of its new menu item, The Pickle Pizza, which uses pickles as toppings.
The brand said that it is the first quick service pizza restaurant in the US to offer a pickle pizza.
The Pickle Pizza, which banks on the popularity of pickles, features a hand-tossed crust and Buttermilk Ranch sauce.
It also has cheese, crispy breaded chicken breast toppings with Nashville Hot Seasoning, sliced white onions, spicy dill pickles and a drizzle of Buttermilk Ranch.
The offering is available for a limited period only and while supplies last.
Priced at $17.99, the pizza can be ordered at the Pizza Hut located at 932 8th Avenue in New York City, from 9 June to 11 June.
Customers can buy the pizza through carryout and in-store options.
Pizza Hut Food Innovation head Penny Shaheen said: “We’re always looking for innovative ways to add new tastes and textures to our dishes and pickles have been gaining popularity due to their versatility.
“With our new Pickle Pizza, we’re tapping into the latest food trends while also putting culinary thought into how they come to life on a pizza.
“Our recipe is all about great flavour, balancing the tanginess of pickles with other classic ingredients we know taste good on our beloved pizza.”
Last September, Pizza Hut Canada collaborated with Serve Robotics to conduct a door-to-door robot delivery service in Vancouver, British Columbia.
