US-based fast food chain Popeyes has announced the permanent addition of its Blackened Chicken Sandwich.
The sandwich marks the expansion of the brand’s chicken sandwich platform.
The sandwich's pricing starts at $4.99 and is currently available across Popeyes’ restaurants in the US and Canada.
With the addition of the Blackened Chicken Sandwich, the company said it now has a ‘sandwich for everyone, every day.’
Blackened Chicken Sandwich is the brand’s first-ever permanent addition to its family of chicken sandwiches since its launch in 2019.
Popeyes claimed that its sandwiches are breading-free, antibiotic-free and full of flavour.
It is made by marinating whole chicken breast for around 12 hours and then seasoning it with a mix of Cajun spices. It is then served atop a toasted brioche bun with Popeyes’ classic or spicy mayo and barrel-cured pickles.
The brand has also introduced a bacon and cheese add-on to any sandwich on the menu to provide guests with multiple options.
Popeyes said that guests can also customise their sandwiches starting at $1.50.
Popeyes president Sami Siddiqui said: “As we expand our iconic Chicken Sandwich line-up, the Blackened Chicken Sandwich will provide guests with a lighter option that is perfect for every day.
“And, with the addition of bacon and cheese, our loyal fans will now have six Chicken Sandwich options to choose from, all with the irresistible Cajun flavours and boldness they crave.”
The New Orleans-based brand currently has more than 3,600 restaurants across the globe and the US.
In March 2023, Popeyes’ Indian franchise Popeyes Jubilant FoodWorks confirmed its plans to expand its presence by opening 50 new restaurants over the next year and nearly 250 locations in the medium term.
