Canada-based Japanese restaurant chain Ramen Arashi is set to open a new restaurant in Kensington, Calgary, on 24 September 2024.

The new venue will be the fifth outlet for the restaurant chain, which is known for its Japanese ramen.

Ramen Arashi already operates restaurants in Banff, Canmore, Victoria and Kelowna, and aims to replicate the culinary experience at its new venue in Kensington.

The opening aligns with its mission to deliver the genuine essence of ramen as a cultural emblem of Japan.

Established in 2017 by Kentaro Seki and Yuji Yokomori, both long-term residents of Banff, Ramen Arashi has gained a reputation for their Japanese cuisine throughout Western Canada.

Ramen Arashi Kensington general manager and head chef Nobu Togawa said: “Ramen Arashi isn't just about food; it's about creating a community hub where people from all walks of life can come together to enjoy a hot bowl of ramen.”

In August 2023, Ramen Arashi announced the opening of a new outlet in Kelowna, British Columbia.

It was the brand’s fourth location in Canada, joining its existing restaurants in Banff and Canmore in Alberta, and Victoria in British Columbia.

The new restaurant was opened by Shiori Hamasaki, a former employee of the brand, and Ryota Okada, a Japanese former electrician and business owner.

Shiori, originally from Japan's Fukuoka Prefecture, had worked at the Ramen Arashi restaurant in Canmore. The opening marked her debut in business ownership, just four years after relocating to Canada.
