India’s celebrity chef Ranveer Brar is set to open his first UAE restaurant, named ‘KashKan’, in Dubai.
Scheduled to open on 2 September, KashKan will be Brar’s first venture in the Middle East region, a report by The National News said.
As per the report, the new restaurant will be located on the first level of Dubai Festival City mall and have a seating capacity of up to 210 people.
The restaurant’s dining area will face the mall's fountain.
In addition, there will be five private dining rooms, which Brar refers as ‘cabanas’, in the restaurant. Each cabana will be based on a particular theme representing India’s major regions with screens that continuously play in-theme travel and food clips.
The venue’s kitchen will be separated by a glass window and the interior will mainly showcase India’s vibrant culture.
KashKan features a central bar that prepares and serves desserts and drinks. It also has an outdoor section within the venue, which faces the waterfront promenade.
The menu, according to Brar, has been created to highlight India’s authentic flavours, with a refreshing take on the Indian cuisines.
The report stated that the new restaurant will be a portmanteau of India’s northernmost part Kashmir and southernmost part Kanyakumari.
KashKan’s logo, looking like a compass, will demonstrate its vision to “capture the breadth of Indian cuisine”.
Brar is opening this restaurant after more than four years gap. The chef-restaurateur currently owns and operates multiple dining venues across the North American and South Asian regions.
Brar said that the food industry was hugely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and is now bouncing back.
“Restaurants like this are not even a blip on the screen, relative to the cuisines of entire countries and regions. KashKan only hopes to spark meaningful conversations about Indian food,” Brar told The National News during a media preview of his new restaurant in Dubai Festival City Mall.
