UK-based pub company Red Oak Taverns has further expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of four new pubs from the Marstons Pub Company.
Financial details of the deal have not been divulged by the company.
The acquired establishments are the Pied Bull in Shepshed, the Prince Albert in Kingswinford, the Queen's Arms in Bakewell and the Victoria in Oxford.
The latest acquisition by Red Oak Taverns follows its previous purchase of three assets from Marstons in February 2023.
The expansion has been supported by Red Oak Taverns' recent refinancing agreement with OakNorth Bank, which has provided the necessary capital.
Red Oak Taverns co-founder and CEO Mark Grunnell stated: “We are delighted to have kicked off our 2024 acquisition programme with these four high-quality ‘free-of-tie’ [FOT] assets.
“They take our FOT division to more than 85 pubs and further demonstrate our unique proposition of flexibly operating substantial portfolios of both tied and FOT assets.”
In October 2023, Red Oak Taverns acquired 17 pubs from St Austell Brewery’s leased and tenanted estate.
The deal includes sites across Cornwall, Devon and Somerset: the Rolle Quay (Barnstaple), the White Hart (Launceston) and the Four Lords (Par).
In March 2023, British pub and hotel operator Marston’s decided to divest 61 freehold pubs in England and Wales from its estate.
It appointed business property adviser and pub specialist Christie & Co to support on the transactions. The selected pub portfolio included a mix of leased, tenanted, retail and managed pubs, and will be sold individually, in small groups or as a group package.
