Israeli-based food tech start-up SavorEat has collaborated with foodservice giant Sodexo to introduce its robot chef in the US.

SavorEat uses an AI-based robot chef to produce 3D-printed plant-based burgers and serve them in the dining halls of the University of Colorado and the University of Denver.

This robot chef will deliver on-demand meals to the university students.

SavorEat will serve students at the University of Denver at the Rebecca Chopp Grand Central Market from this month. It will then launch at the University of Colorado at Denver’s Eat Food Market next year.

The AI-powered robot chef offers restaurants a consistent way to produce food, which reduces waste. It uses personalised patties that only produce a specified amount of plant-based meat needed on demand.

By employing web applications, diners can customise their protein and fat compositions and select cooking preferences to craft their meals easily.

These user preferences will be stored in the cloud and sent to the robot chef, who then autonomously produces a patty within three minutes.

SavorEat CEO and co-founder Racheli Vizman said: “By partnering with a legacy company like Sodexo, which encourages innovation and is at the forefront of adopting food tech to serve students worldwide, SavorEat extends its reach and brings our Robot Chef to the US.

“We are excited to share the deliciousness of food that tastes like real meat (without any animal-based ingredients), with the tens of thousands of students. We’re proud to partner with Sodexo and could not ask for a better partner with which to mark our US debut.”

Sodexo Campus senior vice-president Moses DeBord said: “SavorEat’s unique mission to bring customisable plant-based solutions perfectly fits our vision to bring a happy and healthy eating experience to college campuses.”
