Houston, Texas-based donut and kolache chain Shipley Do-Nuts has put a spin on New Orleans' traditional beignets with the launch of its limited-time mini-beignets, known as YAYs.
The new YAYs are available at participating Shipley Do-Nuts locations in the US for a limited time until early April 2025.
They are made from Shipley's signature yeast dough, fried, coated in powdered sugar and served warm.
Shipley culinary director Kaitlyn Venable stated: "Since Houston is known as New Orleans' sister city, it's only right that Shipley offers our twist on Louisiana's official state donut with a new snack-sized treat.
"Made fresh daily, our mouthwatering new YAYs offer our unique take on the classic favourite, delivering a light, airy, sweet treat perfect for any time of day."
The newly introduced YAYs come in various order sizes, with prices ranging from four for $2 to 24 for $10.
The launch of YAYs is timed to coincide with the New Orleans carnival season, which culminates on Mardi Gras at the beginning of the season of Lent.
Members enrolled in the Shipley Do-Happy Rewards programme can claim a complimentary order of four YAYs with any purchase over $5 until 10 February.
Shipley Do-Nuts recently added Bacon, Egg & Cheese kolaches to its menu as a limited-time item.
In December 2024 Shipley Do-Nuts signed a development deal with Virentes Partners Group for expansion into Florida and Tennessee.
Set up in 1936, Shipley Do-Nuts has 360 company-owned and franchised locations across 12 US states.
