Fast casual restaurant brand Smashburger, a subsidiary of Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC), has added a new dish to its summer menu for a limited period.

Named the Carolina BBQ Burnt Ends Burger, the dish will be available until 29 August 2023 at Smashburger locations across the US.

The slow-smoked pork burnt ends burger is inspired by the regional flavours of South Carolina’s gold mustard-based BBQ sauce and Kansas City-style burnt ends.

It includes eight-hour slow-cooked burnt ends. The burger is also topped with a tangy, mustardy Carolina-style BBQ sauce, pickles and melted aged cheddar cheese on a soft Parker House Roll.

The price of the freshly made burger starts at $11.99, with order options available for both take-out or delivery.

Orders for Carolina BBQ Burnt Ends Burger can be placed on various platforms, including Smashburger.com, mobile app or via DoorDash, Postmates, Uber Eats and GrubHub.

Smashburger and JFC North America Division marketing head Scott Johnson said: “At Smashburger, we're proud of our unwavering commitment to culinary innovation and staying on top of relevant consumer dining trends.

“We noticed burnt ends were a top food trend in 2022 and the Carolina BBQ Burnt Ends Burger is our unique spin on the favourite American BBQ dish we know our guests will enjoy.”

Smashburger is primarily known for its Certified Angus Beef burgers.

The restaurant also serves grilled or crispy chicken sandwiches, turkey burgers, black bean burgers, fresh salads and hand-spun shakes.
