Independents by Sodexo, the school catering arm of Sodexo, has secured an additional five-year catering contract in the UK from Reed’s School in Cobham, Surrey.

Sodexo has been offering catering and hospitality services at the school for more than 50 years.

Reed’s School operations director Jason McKinlay stated: “Reed's School and Ripley Court School are delighted to announce a further five-year contract extension with Independents by Sodexo, a partnership that has now extended to well over 50 years.

“We look forward to working with Sodexo to continue the evolution of the food offer to pupils, parents and staff alike.”

Under the new £1.3m ($1.6m) contract, Sodexo will continue to provide meals for the 700-day pupils and 100 boarders, as well as for the sixth form café.

The scope of the contract includes delivery of school meals to 200 pupils aged between two and 11 years at Ripley Court School, a co-educational prep school that merged with Reed’s in 2019.

The menus have been developed under its Powering Performance programme to help pupils make informed choices when it comes to food and drink.

Many dishes offered at the school are prepared with "wonky" [imperfect] produce, reducing food waste on cosmetic grounds.

Sodexo UK and Ireland schools managing director Steve Hawkins stated: “Reed’s School is a valued long-term partner and we thoroughly enjoy working with the school to provide food services to their pupils, staff and visitors.

“It is a school steeped in history and our team there has become part of the Reed’s family through their hard work, diligence and commitment to providing meals that are appealing and that provide the right balance of nutrients to enable the pupils to thrive in all they do.”

Last month, Sodexo was awarded a ten-year contract extension by Tettenhall College in Wolverhampton, UK.
