Foodservices company Sodexo has secured a ten-year contract extension from Tettenhall College in Wolverhampton, UK.

The new £6m ($7.4m) contract will further bolster the foodservice company’s relationship with Tettenhall College.

For the past 50 years, Sodexo has been a key partner for catering and hospitality, providing services for more than 500 boys and girls aged between two and 18 years.

Sodexo UK & Ireland schools managing director Steve Hawkins said: “Extending our long-lasting partnership with Tettenhall College for another ten years is a true statement of the outstanding work our team has delivered over the years, especially our chefs, who continue to inspire our customers with their delicious and nutritious dishes.

“At Sodexo, we firmly believe that it all starts with the everyday and we are committed to delivering school catering services that bring the whole school community together, providing the school and parents with the confidence that the children are receiving healthy, nutritious and sustainable meals.”

Sodexo will be offering its refreshed menu launched in September this year. A brand new dining hall is being created to improve food services.

Its refreshed menu includes global dishes such as charred piri-piri chicken thigh, blackened vegetables, Portuguese-style savoury rice, chipotle mayo and crispy citrus slaw.

It will also continue to offer old favourites such as pork sausage toad in the hole, champ potatoes, glazed carrots, roasted brassicas and onion gravy.

Food from Independents by Sodexo is dedicated to nourishing the body, stimulating the intellect and encouraging kids of all ages to take an interest in what they eat.

Apart from providing school meals, Sodexo will also offer hospitality services at the school including special dinners for the headmaster’s guests and parents of the college.

Tettenhall College headmaster Christopher McAllister said: “Tettenhall College has worked with Sodexo for the past 50 years and we are thrilled to be renewing our partnership for another ten years.

“We are confident that the team will continue to provide a high level of care and services to the college.”

Robots are well established in consumer goods and packaging industries, though adoption in foodservice is at a nascent stage

Current metaverse applications in the T&T sector either focus on digital marketing campaigns with real-world rewards for consumers, creating immersive experiences on-site for digitally savvy consumers through AR and VR metaverses, or improving operational efficiency through digital twin technology. As the metaverse evolves, it could offer virtual travel opportunities that complement traditional tourism. However, uptake of the metaverse by smaller travel and tourism operators will remain limited until use cases are affordable and provide a guaranteed return on investment.
