American drive-in fast-food chain SONIC Drive-In has announced the addition of a new cheeseburger, the Sonic Smasher, to its permanent menu.
The new burger, featuring two Angus patties and a unique Smasher sauce, is available via the company’s app until 5 August 2024. It will then be accessible across all restaurant outlets.
The starting price for the premium offering is $6.49.
The Sonic Smasher is made with two seasoned and seared Angus patties, two slices of American cheese, a signature Smasher sauce, crinkle-cut pickles and diced onions in a soft potato bun.
SONIC is also introducing the SONIC Triple Smasher, priced from $7.49.
The company is also expanding its value options with the new $1.99 menu, offering snack, dessert and entrée items at a reduced price all day, every day.
SONIC app users also receive half-price drinks and slushes.
The app offers half-price classic SONIC Cheeseburgers on Tuesday nights, along with exclusive monthly rewards and offers.
SONIC chief marketing officer Ryan Dickerson said: “Consumers should be able to indulge in a premium cheeseburger without having to pay the high costs charged by many fast-casual burger brands. Our mission at SONIC has always been to bring fun, craveable food to our guests at unbeatable prices.
“With the SONIC Smasher, our culinary experts have allowed us to take that commitment to the next level [...] It’s a cheeseburger that you wouldn’t expect from a fast-food brand, and it’s available to everyone. We’re confident that once you try the SONIC Smasher, it will quickly become your new favourite cheeseburger, and the best part is, you can enjoy it at a price you won’t feel guilty about when you come back for it again and again!”
In July 2024 SONIC Drive-In opened its new restaurant in the state of New Jersey.
