SoundHound AI, a voice artificial intelligence (AI) solutions provider, has announced the introduction of its new product, Employee Assist, for the restaurant industry.

The tech company said that its new Employee Assist is a conversational artificial intelligence (AI) product that has been designed to support restaurant employees.

Employee Assist provides information about food and drink items, business FAQs and updates on the manager's log and important daily tasks.

The new tech uses its voice AI with generative AI capabilities to learn and understand instruction manuals, ingredients and allergen information.

Information is later passed on to the restaurant staff through their headsets as part of a fluid two-way conversation.

Additionally, the company claims that its new technology also understands natural human speech without employees having to modify the way they talk.

The new solution will also help restaurant operators reduce the natural friction that comes with inexperienced and multitasking employees.

SoundHound AI co-founder and chief product officer James Hom said: “Employee Assist offers a first-class solution to support busy employees and remove any friction and confusion from the equation. It’s an AI-powered expert in their ear that delivers the right information every time.

“Both restaurant operators and customers are now embracing cutting-edge technology like this because they understand that it’s capable of creating a more efficient and productive ordering experience.”

In September 2023, SoundHound AI integrated with Olo to make its technology available to any location that uses Olo’s technology.

The integration moved voice orders directly to the Olo platform, seamlessly integrating with a restaurant’s operations.

Analyzing the metaverse impact in the foodservice sector

The COVID-19 pandemic brought key IoT use cases to the attention of the T&T industry. However, beyond the use cases catalyzed by the pandemic, the digitalization enabled by IoT solutions provides T&T companies with four key benefits: enhanced operational efficiency, reduced costs, improved decision-making, and better customer experiences. IoT can even assist in the burden of overtourism and the preservation of heritage sites and physical environments. IoT is, therefore, an essential investment for travel and tourism companies in combatting climate change.
