Starbird, a fast-food chain known for its antibiotic-free chicken, has announced a new franchise agreement with Mehta Investment Group to expand its presence into Washington State, US.

The partnership will see the introduction of 17 new locations - 15 in the Seattle area and two in Spokane - with the first openings in 2025.

This marks the brand's second franchise development agreement, following its initial expansion outside of California with seven new locations planned for Denver, Colorado.

Mehta Investment Group is a family-owned enterprise led by Vin Mehta and his son Rohit.

Vin Mehta will direct the strategic vision of the new venture, while Rohit Mehta will handle day-to-day operations, focusing on establishing and growing Starbird's presence in Washington.

Mehta Investment Group principal Vin Mehta said: “Starbird stood out to us because of its premium offerings and commitment to redefining fast food.

“We're excited to introduce Starbird to Washington and share its chef-crafted menu and elevated guest experience with the communities we serve.

“This is more than just a business opportunity for us — it's about becoming part of a brand that's changing the way people think about fast food. We're thrilled to contribute to its growth and look forward to a long and successful partnership.”

Starbird is known for offering no-antibiotics-ever (NAE) chicken which is fresh, never frozen, and hand-breaded in a unique gluten-free flour blend.

Its offerings include the Cali Gold BBQ Bacon Sandwich, the Cali Gold BBQ Salad and Cali Gold BBQ Wings.

The brand also offers nine house-made dipping sauces to complement its menu offerings.

It is offering franchise opportunities in key US markets such as California, Oregon, Colorado, Arizona and Florida.

Starbird is also progressing with franchise development deals in other significant US markets such as Salt Lake City, Phoenix, San Diego and Chicago.

Starbird founder and CEO Aaron Noveshen said: “Starbird's incredible growth reflects the demand for high-quality, chef-driven fast food that resonates with today's consumers.

“Vin and Rohit Mehta bring a powerful combination of operational expertise and a genuine passion for community engagement.

"We're confident they'll establish Starbird as a beloved brand in Washington and help us continue setting a new standard in fast food.”
