Starbucks has inaugurated its first store in Calama, Chile, through its local business partner Alsea.

The opening of the first venue in Calama is part of Starbucks Chile's ongoing market expansion efforts.

Situated at Av Balmaceda 3242, the new outlet offers hot and cold coffee beverages, sandwiches and desserts.

The store's design includes a mural by local artist Cony Lars, entitled “Colors of the North,” which draws inspiration from the mountainous terrain of northern Chile.

The company established its first Chilean store in Santiago in 2003. The Calama store is the brand's 168th location in the country.

Starbucks Chile now employs more than 2,000 people.

The newest store in Calama is expected to create 17 jobs.

Starbucks South Cone and Colombia director Claudia Aburto said: “We are delighted to bring the Starbucks experience to consumers in Calama, expanding our presence in northern Chile.

“Our store designers have created a space that highlights the warm colours of the region, fostering moments of connection around coffee that so many of our customers enjoy.”

In April 2024, Starbucks Chile opened its first store in Osorno as part of its expansion strategy.

Operated by Alsea, the Osorno store's design highlights the city's history with elements like local kingfishers and Maitén leaves.

The Osorno outlet was the brand’s 163rd venue in the country and employs 14 staff.
