The new drinks are inspired by the growing "swicy" trend that fuses sweet and spicy tastes.

Starbucks Mexico has announced the launch of Spicy Lemonade Refreshers at all its locations in Mexico for a limited time.

Available in Spicy Mango Dragonfruit and Spicy Strawberry Açaí, the new drinks are inspired by the growing "swicy" trend that fuses sweet and spicy tastes.

The Spicy Mango Dragonfruit Refresher combines the taste of dragonfruit with Starbucks' spicy chili powder.

The Spicy Strawberry Açaí Refresher combines strawberries and açaí berries with the same signature spice.

Both beverages offer a balance of sweetness from the Starbucks Refresher, the tang of lemonade and a spicy finish.

Starbucks Mexico marketing director Bibiana Rosique said: “Around the world, this flavour trend has become popular in many cuisines, appearing in a wide variety of culinary preparations, from sauces and dressings to appetisers and main dishes.

“While some people might find the combination of flavours unusual, swicy foods are a delicious way to expand the boundaries of flavour as we know it. You may have already tried sweet and sour foods, and swicy foods offer a similar experience with an added touch of intensity.

“Our goal is to combine the exceptional Starbucks experience with the culture and preferences of our customers in Mexico."

In June 2024, Starbucks expanded its beverage menu with the introduction of Starbucks Iced Energy Beverages, marking its entry into the growing energy drinks market.
