Baristas del Caribe, the operator of Starbucks Puerto Rico, has broadened the brand’s footprint in the region with the inauguration of two new stores.
The first was opened at the Bairoa Shopping Center in Caguas and the second is a kiosk at the Plaza Del Caribe in Ponce.
The strategic expansion has entailed an investment of $2.4m and will generate 50 new jobs across both sites.
Baristas del Caribe president Jaime Luis Fonalledas said: “These new stores in Caguas and Ponce, marking the 33rd and 34th locations in the market, showcase the continued growth of Starbucks Puerto Rico, which now operates in nine municipalities across the island, with a dedicated team of more than 740 partners (employees) proudly wearing the green apron.
“At Starbucks Puerto Rico, we strive to create connection moments and provide a warm and welcoming experience for customers to enjoy high-quality Arabica coffee and handcrafted beverages.”
In line with Starbucks' re-invention strategy, these new outlets are equipped with modern coffee machines and design innovations.
Both stores are also actively engaged in the Starbucks Grounds For Your Garden programme, an initiative that encourages sustainability by offering customers complimentary bags of used coffee grounds for use as green compost or a fertiliser alternative, contributing to environmental conservation efforts.
Starbucks Puerto Rico general manager Idis Ortiz-López said: “At the heart of Starbucks is the commitment to create a third place, a space for conversation and creativity.
“We strive to be a place where ideas are born, relationships are forged and dreams take flight. These new stores in Caguas and Ponce seamlessly extend that vision, offering warm and welcoming spaces for the community to come together.”
This month, Starbucks announced the launch of two new beverages to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
