UK-based pub company Stonegate Group has re-launched the refurbished Royal Oak pub in Whitchurch, England.

The pub has been transformed with investment from the Craft Union Pub Company.

The size of the investment was not disclosed but is thought to be in six figures.

The Royal Oak pub’s décor has been completely re-vamped. It has more space inside, a new colour scheme to give a cleaner and more welcoming look, and fitted outside seating.

Royal Oak operator Lisa Fletcher said: “I’m so happy with the new look of the Royal Oak and I’m proud to be here at the start of what we hope to be a hugely rewarding journey.

“The pub feels so cosy and homely now. It really does feel like a home from home. I was blown away by the renovations, and I’m so excited we can now welcome the local community to such a fantastic space.”

In November 2023, Stonegate re-opened the revamped Pembroke pub in Coulsdon, England, with more seating, new fixtures and fittings and a new sports area.

The pub’s sports area features a new pool table and dartboard, and more HD TV screens to view live sports.

The overhaul was made possible by a quarter of a million-pound investment.

Stonegate Group said: “It is not just the interior of the pub that has been enhanced, but the pub’s outdoor area has also been transformed, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy drinks with friends and family. You can even bring your furry friends along.”

Adoption of robotics in foodservice is at a nascent stage

The role of robotics is less sure-footed in the foodservice sector. Automating kitchens and meal service is less easily done with robots than automating warehouses and production lines, although this hasn’t deterred start-ups’ efforts to automate burger flipping and meal delivery with robots and drones. Robots improve profitability in the long term but have high up-front costs, so investing in robotics is not without risks.
