Restaurant brand Subway, through its subsidiary company SUB License, has entered into a master franchise agreement with Convenience House Schweiz to expand its presence in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

As per the terms of the agreement, Convenience House Schweiz will have exclusive rights to manage and develop Subway locations within these markets.

The agreement will see opening of more than 70 Subway restaurants over the next seven years, an initiative set to more than double the brand's current footprint in the region.

Convenience House Schweiz CEO Sebastian Becker said: “Subway is a well-established, globally recognized brand with dedicated franchisees and a loyal consumer base.

“We are committed to bringing guests the freshly made, craveable food that has made Subway a favorite in the quick service restaurant industry, while also driving innovation to meet the evolving needs of guests.”

Convenience House Schweiz aims to prioritise guest experience and accessibility by modernising existing and new restaurants to align with Subway's contemporary image.

This includes the introduction of in-restaurant digital enhancements such as self-serve kiosks, which are expected to streamline ordering processes and bring operational efficiencies.

The company intends to double its restaurant count across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in the coming years.

Strong partnerships, such as the one with Convenience House Schweiz, are crucial for Subway as it continues on its path of global expansion and market penetration.

Subway EMEA president Carrie Walsh said: “Subway restaurants in Switzerland and Liechtenstein are incredibly popular, and demand from guests looking for a convenient, affordable and satisfying meal, continues to rise.

“Convenience House Schweiz and its founders bring decades of convenience retail experience and market expertise that will enable us to accelerate our growth in the region while continuing to elevate our food and guest experience.”

In July 2024, Subway announced its updated 2024 US summer menu, featuring new flavours, textures, and the return of popular items.
