Indian food delivery and e-commerce platform Swiggy has launched Bolt, a 10-minute food delivery service.

The new offering targets customers seeking quick-to-prepare meals from quick-service restaurants within a 2km radius.

Bolt aims to combine speed with the maintenance of food quality and freshness.

For this service, the company has initiated partnerships with 2,700 restaurants, including chains such as KFC, McDonald's and Starbucks.

The Bolt service is currently available in major Indian cities Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.

The company plans to launch it in other parts of the country soon.

Bolt by Swiggy works with eateries that are capable of rapid order fulfilment, focusing on menu items that can be prepared quickly.

The service's operational model is designed to facilitate swift deliveries without compromising the quality of food provided to customers.

Swiggy's delivery partners are not made aware of the distinction between Bolt and regular orders, ensuring that delivery personnel are not subject to penalties or incentives based on the speed of delivery.

Swiggy Food Marketplace CEO Rohit Kapoor said: “Bolt is the next evolution in our mission to provide unmatched convenience. Ten years ago, Swiggy revolutionised food delivery by cutting average wait times to 30 minutes.

“Now, we're reducing that wait even further for frequently ordered items like coffee, burgers, ice cream and biryani, partnering with trusted restaurants to deliver the best food in just 10 minutes.”

In September 2023, Swiggy launched an incognito mode feature, enabling users to place orders privately.
