Fast food restaurant company Taco John’s is set to relaunch Alaska Flounder Fish Tacos in the US.
The limited-time offering will be available from 12 February to 31 March 2024.
Taco John's is re-introducing the item with a new Fiesta Sauce, aiming to provide a fresh take on the classic dish.
Fiesta Sauce is a creamy, savoury dip seasoned with jalapeños, onion, garlic, tomato and cilantro [coriander].
Alaska Flounder Fish Tacos feature wild-caught Alaska flounder in a crispy, seasoned batter, drizzled with the new sauce.
Shredded lettuce and pico de gallo are added to each taco, which is then wrapped in a warm flour tortilla.
Taco John’s menu Innovation director and corporate chef Brad Bergaus said: “With our new Fiesta Sauce – which pairs perfectly with our Alaska Flounder Fish Tacos – guests have a delicious menu option whether they’re observing Lent or just have a craving for fish.”
The restaurant brand has expressed pride in using Alaska Seafood, which is known for being wild, natural and sustainable, for its two-for-$7 Alaska Flounder Fish Tacos promotion.
Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute marketing co-ordinator Sarah Wallace said: “We’re proud to partner with Taco John’s as they feature premium wild-caught flounder in their fish tacos.
“The cold, glacier-fed waters of Alaska provide a healthy, natural habitat for millions of high-quality fish, famous for their delicious flavour and superior texture. Our state’s thriving, wild Alaska flounder population is a testament to our healthy fish habitats and responsible fisheries management practices.
“Alaska is the only state with sustainability built into its constitution and each season, only as many fish are harvested as the environment can handle – ensuring high-quality seafood for generations to come.”
Consumers can order the Alaska Flounder Fish Tacos via Taco John's mobile app, at one of the company's restaurants or via the drive-thru.
In December 2023, Taco John’s expanded its store network in the US with a new location in Cadillac, Michigan.
