UK-based community pub group Admiral Taverns has announced the opening of The Cheshire Cheese pub in Middlewich, Cheshire.

The community pub has been re-opened to the public after undergoing an extensive £300,000 ($366,000) refurbishment.

Admiral Taverns invested £250,000 for this upgrade while the remaining funds came from the local licensee, Janice Oxle, who has been running the pub for the last three years.

Janice said: "Running the Cheshire Cheese has been such an adventure so far and I've loved every second of it. Opening night was incredible, made even more special by the feedback I received from customers about the refurbishment – it really is looking fantastic.

"I can't wait to help it grow even more and see it continue to evolve into a vital community hub for my residents to enjoy."

As a part of this upgrade, the pub exterior now features new lighting, signage and a completely revamped beer garden.

The pub's outdoor area can accommodate 120 guests and has been equipped with new furniture, lighting and a newly updated bandstand for live entertainment.

The upgrade is said to have given the pub an elevated twist while enabling it to retain its traditional characteristics.

Admiral Taverns business development manager Ashleigh Kirk said: "I'd like to thank Janice and her fantastic team for all their hard work in bringing the refurbishment to life – it's been such a pleasure working with them all.

"The Cheshire Cheese is such a special pub and I know she will continue to bring the best out of it and make it a cornerstone of community life. We wish her the very best of luck and I can't wait to see what the future holds."

Quick commerce steadily becoming the norm for most food and grocery delivery companies

The emergence of ecommerce has made it imperative that companies understand consumer behavior, deliver personalized service, and offer competitive pricing models. Per GlobalData estimates, food and drink, clothing and footwear, and accommodation were the top three sectors by global ecommerce transactions in 2022. The rise of quick commerce, particularly within food and drink, allows consumers to have items delivered to their doorstep within the hour, which has driven a surge in online sales for food and drink.
