US-based fast food restaurant chain Wingstop has announced plans to further expand its UK presence with the opening of six new venues in 2024.

The move will generate 300 new jobs, adding to the company's existing workforce of 2,500.

The new restaurants will open at Crawley, Ealing, Lakeside, Manchester, Walthamstow and Whitechapel.

Each opening is anticipated to create 60 new jobs.

The restaurant brand plans to offer free chicken wings to the first one hundred customers at each of the new venues.

Lemon Pepper Holdings (LPH), the master franchisee of Wingstop in the UK, launched the first UK outlet in 2018.  Wingstop UK now operates 50 restaurants, with the milestone 50th location inaugurated in Bolton in August 2024.

Wingstop also holds a minority shareholding in Lemon Pepper Holdings.

Lemon Pepper Holdings co-chief executive Chris Sherriff said: “Today is a significant day for Wingstop UK as we celebrate the incredible achievement of opening our 50th location in just under six years.”

Sherriff added that this milestone reflected Wingstop’s “commitment to creating meaningful job opportunities.”

“It’s been incredibly rewarding to see so many individuals progress, taking on new challenges and advancing within the company.”

In August 2024 LPH reportedly appointed Goldman Sachs to assist in the sale of the Wingstop UK business.

This move follows unsolicited interest from potential buyers.

Goldman Sachs has initiated information distribution about Wingstop UK to interested parties.
