Stonegate Group has announced that the late-night pub Yates Cardiff will reopen as a Craft Union venue, following a £60,000 refurbishment.

The investment has given the pub a refreshed look and feel, including a high-tech dart board and an updated bar area.

Located on Greyfriars Road in the heart of Cardiff, the venue is situated near Cardiff's Queen Street train station.

The upgrade includes 15 4k HDTVs, four projector screens and multiple Sky boxes, enhancing the viewing experience for sports fans.

The establishment is scheduled to welcome patrons back on 7 June 2024.

The reopening of Yates Cardiff will see new operators, Stuart and Rechelle Dalton, take the helm.

The duo commented: “We are so pleased to be back home and running a venue as iconic as Yates Cardiff.

“Craft Union really places the community at the centre of its venues, and we are looking forward to getting to know our locals and transforming Yates into a venue everyone can love and enjoy, with plenty of fun events and charity initiatives on the cards.

“Our wonderful daughter Amy will also be joining us in running the venue, it’s a true family affair and we’re dedicated to making the next chapter of Yates’ story exceptional.”

Stonegate Group also revealed that Craft Union has invested £700,000 to revitalise six community pubs in Devon.

The latest of these is the Sir Joshua Reynolds in Plymouth, which reopened after receiving a £211,000 investment.

Additional investments in Devon include a £65,000 refurbishment of the King’s Head Plymouth and a £90,000 makeover for the Duke of York Inn, Exeter, which reopened on 21 and 22 May respectively.

These follow earlier investments in three other Devon locations: Yates Torquay, the Kings Arms in Bideford and Wellington Arms in Ilfracombe, both North Devon favourites, also reopened earlier in May after significant investments of £111,000 and £125,000, respectively.
