Fast-casual restaurant chain Zaxby's has introduced a new menu item, the Asian Zensation Zalad, for a limited period.

Starting at $9.95, the salad features the chain's fried Chicken Fingerz or grilled chicken, mixed with fresh greens, red cabbage, carrots and crispy wonton strips, topped with an Asian slaw and a honey sesame Teriyaki glaze.

 The Asian Zensation Zalad is designed to deliver a fusion of flavours, combining the texture of wonton strips with a crunchy Asian slaw that's rich with citrus vinaigrette, which is a blend of orange, pineapple, ginger and sesame, providing a tangy and fruity taste profile.

Zaxby's has marinated the chicken in its signature marinade for more than 12 hours to ensure the meat is tender and full of flavour.

The honey sesame teriyaki glaze, a key component of the Zalad, is made from soy sauce, fresh ginger, garlic, honey and brown sugar, adding a sweet and savoury finish to the dish.

The Asian Zensation Zalad comes with a side of citrus vinaigrette dressing and Zaxby's hand-rolled Veggie Egg Roll.

For those looking for an additional side, Zaxby's offers two Egg Rolls for $3.00, served with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce.

 The Egg Rolls are hand-rolled in a crispy wonton wrapper and filled with a mix of shredded cabbage, carrots, green onion and seasoning.

They are accompanied by Zaxby's Sweet and Spicy sauce, which is one of the twelve sauces the restaurant offers in its sauce portfolio.

 Zaxby’s chief marketing and strategy officer Patrick Schwing said: “The Asian Zensation Zalad is one of our top requested seasonal menu items from Zaxby’s fans.

“Customers can enjoy our signature crispy Chicken Fingerz on delicious fresh greens, topped with bold Asian-inspired flavours, and paired with our hand-rolled Egg Rolls–making our Zensation Zalad unlike any ordinary salad. It’s a Zalad.

“Last year, we literally ran out of Egg Rolls from an overwhelmingly positive response from our customers. We’re advising our guests to come early and often to get them while they last.”

Last month, Zaxby’s opened its first restaurant in Grovetown, Georgia, US.
